About M P PCOS Society of India

Dear teachers, colleagues, friends and students; As you are aware that there is a rise in prevalence of various non-communicable disorders such as type 2 diabetes mellitus, obesity, metabolic syndrome, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), fatty liver etc. over the years. These disorders apparently seem to be linked to the drastic changes in lifestyle. PCOS is one of the commonest endocrinopathies in reproductive age women and is galloping in prevalence in parallel manner to that of type2 diabetes mellitus. This rising prevalence is attaining epidemic proportions in developing countries and seems to be highest in the Indian subcontinent. Therefore India can also be considered PCOS capital of the world. As you know the label 'PCOS' like that of type 2 diabetes mellitus does not imply aetiopathogenesis, but instead gives an erroneous suggestion of a gynecological or a cosmetic condition. Current data is replete with the descriptions of the constellation of metabolic derangements associated with PCOS and these demand to be screened and addressed to in depth. Insulin resistance syndrome seems to be sitting at the center of a web of burgeoning metabolic pandemic encompassing type 2 diabetes, PCOS, obesity, fatty liver disease, dyslipidemia, and some cancers.

Realizing this fact and the gravity of this major public health issue, several of us have decided to join hands to create a platform dedicated to promotion of research, exchanging of knowledge among focused professionals, creating awareness of public etc. about this continuum of metabolic melody. Therefore, we have created this  non-profit global society of basic scientists and clinicians belonging to multiple disciplines involved in the care of various disorders such as PCOS, obesity, hypertension, dyslipidemia, diabetes mellitus, fatty liver, metabolic syndrome etc.

The office bearers of this platform are as under:
